Naturally occurring negative ions

Naturally occurring negative ions

06/21/2017
As you are now aware, high concentrations of both positive ions and negative ions may be found in different locations throughout nature and even at different times. For example, you may experience a headache or feel tense right before a severe thunderstorm occurs. After the storm has ended, the air seems to refresh you and your headache passes. Coincidentally, there is an enormous amount of positive ions generated before a storm, while the air after a storm has a notably high level of negative ions. While negative ions may be found in many places throughout the great outdoors, the best natural sources have moving water that crashes against surfaces. Continue Reading
Salt- The Food that Time Forgot

Salt- The Food that Time Forgot

06/16/2017
For thousands of years we have been making salt from the sea or finding it in the land, and the world’s thousands of regional cuisines have evolved in concert with the availability and character of regionally made salts. For most of human existence, salt has been scarce in the extreme, difficult to transport, and of dramatically varying quality. Salt was, literally, a treasure, and everyone everywhere who could make it would. Continue Reading

Himalayan Pink Salt vs. Sea Salt- a Crystal Comparison

05/17/2017
Many people believe sea salt is a healthy alternative to table salt, but this is no longer the case. The oceans are being used as dumping grounds for harmful toxic poisons like mercury, PCBs, dioxin and microplastic particles. Reports of oil spills polluting the sea are becoming more frequent. With some 89% of all the sea salt producers now refining their salt, today's sea salt simply isn't as healthy as it used to be. What’s about Pink Himalayan salt? Continue Reading
Himalayan Salt Bath for healthy living

Himalayan Salt Bath for healthy living

One day, way back when… Hippocrates (the Father of Medicine) had heard that fishermen would soak their rough, injured hands in seawater to cleanse and heal them after a hard day’s work. Much to his surprise, he noticed they had very few infections or complications after the saltwater soaks, regardless of the nature of the wound. Soon after, he began encouraging patients to bathe in warmed seawater and called the therapeutic treatment “Thalassotherapy”. Today, these baths are most commonly known as Himalayan Salt, Sole or Brine Baths and are often done in conjunction with certain phases of the moon. This is known as Moon or Moon Rhythm Bathing. Himalayan Salt Massage Stone- a Game Changer

05/04/2017
I'm not sure when I realized Himalayan Salt Massage Stone was a game changer. It could have been when I first walked into the treatment room and saw the beautifully glowing salt stones, but it wasn't. In fact, it took talking to Saltability founder Ann Brown, seeing the stones displayed in the treatment room, having not one but TWO salt massage stones, and finally using them with my own therapist hands before I realized how big this new trend will be. Why salt is important in pregnancy?

Why salt is important in pregnancy?

12/07/2016
The medical community used to suggest that pregnant women limit salt (sodium) intake in pregnancy for three reasons. One, they believed salt intake contributes to bloating. (In fact, inadequate salt intake can cause bloating.) Two, that salt would increase water retention (Salt actually helps us regulate the right amount of fluid retention). And three that it would increase blood pressure. (Some studies have actually shown that additional salt intake can lower blood pressure in pregnancy.) These all are all issues that can develop in pregnancy and the thinking went that salt would only exacerbate them. Continue Reading

Himalayan Salt Lamp for Reiki

Himalayan Salt Lamp for Reiki

11/10/2016
The idea of a universal life force that is present in all forms of life is common to a large number of traditions throughout the world. For Melanesians, it is mana- from which we get our word manager. But this concept is found in ancient civilizations from the Indians of North America to the Siberian Yakutes, and from South America to Africa and Asia. The Asian version of this life force is chi, and in that tradition, this force circulates freely across everything and does not get attached. Later we will see the benefits of Himalayan Salt Lamp for Reiki. Continue Reading

What he found was that almost 60% of the burn victims experienced a significant reduction in pain and discomfort, while at the same time healed faster and more thoroughly. Continue Reading
Himalayan Salt Block for Salmon Gravlax

Himalayan Salt Block for Salmon Gravlax

11/04/2016
Impress your Jewish grandma with gravlax, or just impress yourself. Actually, my Nana preferred the cold-smoked cousin, lox, but gravlax is an incredibly easy, positively delicious way to cure salmon. The name comes from any number of Nordic fish dishes inspired by the openly morbid technique of burying in the ground (grave) your salmon (lax) with some salt cure. I like this dish because it yields a particularly moist, delicate, and lightly salted gravlax, since the salinity of the Himalaya salt block does not migrate as readily into the fish flesh as a packed cure of loose salt. Also, because you don’t need plates and weights, and because the salt blocks can be reused over and over again, the method boasts a certain elegance and economy of tools. Continue Reading

One of my favorite experiences when grilling or firing up the barbecue is the inevitable inquiry about whether I make my own rubs from scratch.
