Where to Use Himalayan Salt Lamps

The Himalayan Salt Lamps release the negative ions into the air where they are dispersed in highest concentrations at approximately five to six feet from the lamp. For best results, place the lamp in an area where you spend much of your day or evening-- like on the light stand next to your bed, on your desk near your computer at home or work, in the kitchen, or near your favorite reading or TV spot.
It is suggested to have more than just one lamp. You can start with one of course and then add to your collection as you go along. It’s similar to plants – the more the better. You should aim to have at least one in every room you frequently use, such as bedrooms and living rooms. In fact, there is no wrong place to locate Himalayan salt lamps; you can get the benefits in any room- but here's a list of suggested uses:
- As nightlights in bathrooms, kitchens, and especially in children’s rooms. The dim light from these low wattage lamps will not disturb sleep. The negative ion effect of the lamp will contribute to a restful night.
- Near pet bedding and litter boxes- to reduce and eliminate odors.
- In nursing homes, on hospital night stands, in babies’ nurseries.
- As a travel light- for removing musty and other odors from hotel rooms.
- As decoration near indoor plant displays, on window sills, near radiators, and on the back of the kitchen stove.
- To replace candles during the holidays- avoiding potential fire hazards.
- In large office waiting rooms and conference rooms- contributing to peace and serenity as well as healthier work environments.
Another way to improve the quality of air in your house is by frequently airing the place, so the air can circulate. In the winter months or when there are high levels of air pollution, it might be difficult to leave the windows open and sufficiently air all the rooms. That is when the salt lamps can be particularly useful and can help cleanse the air and remove the stubborn winter bugs.
